The NDS Association continues to engage with global organizations that drive industry standards forward, making data exchange between diverse tools more accessible and efficient. As part of this effort, NDS was represented at the ASAM General Assembly & Technical Seminar 2026, held on March 17–18 in Germany, where Fabian Klebert, NDS Technical Lead, participated in discussions with the ASAM e.V. community.

During the event, Fabian delivered the presentation “ASAM OpenDRIVE and NDS: Connecting Simulation and Navigation,” highlighting the importance of aligning standards across simulation and in-vehicle environments. The session emphasized how closer cooperation between ASAM and NDS can help ensure consistency of road data across the entire map development lifecycle.
Beyond the presentation, the meeting provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Discussions with ASAM members reflected a shared interest in strengthening interoperability between standards and reducing fragmentation across development toolchains.
Particular attention was given to the OpenDRIVE-to-NDS converter, which enables smoother data transitions between simulation and navigation domains. Several participants, already part of the NDS ecosystem but not yet users of the OpenDRIVE converter, expressed interest in exploring it further and providing feedback on potential use cases.
The engagement at ASAM 2026 marks another step in aligning industry efforts toward standardized, efficient, and safe mobility solutions. NDS and ASAM continue to move in a common direction, supporting an ecosystem where data flows seamlessly across tools, platforms, and development stages.

Developers and partners are encouraged to explore the converter and related resources via the NDS Developer Portal and take part in shaping its further development.
