AI Reshapes Mobility and Autonomous Driving

AI-powered mobility took center stage at CES 2025, with autonomous driving, predictive AI decision-making, and large-scale real-world simulation advancing at an unprecedented pace. NVIDIA Cosmos, awarded “Best of CES Overall”, was a major highlight, demonstrating how physical AI can train autonomous vehicles in complex environments through synthetic data generation. This approach enhances safety, accelerates validation, and minimizes the need for extensive real-world testing.

Beyond AI-powered training, robotaxis, and autonomous trucking solutions are expanding rapidly. Waymo and Zoox continue to scale operations, deploying commercial AV fleets in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Austin, and Atlanta. Meanwhile, Aurora, Kodiak, and Torc are pioneering long-haul freight automation, aiming to optimize logistics and reduce industry-wide driver shortages.

Software-Defined Vehicles: The New Standard for Automotive Innovation

Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) were a dominant theme throughout CES 2025, showcasing the shift from hardware-centric automotive design to AI-powered, cloud-connected platforms. Unlike traditional vehicles, SDVs allow continuous software updates, enhanced vehicle intelligence, and greater adaptability—paving the way for a more dynamic, efficient, and personalized driving experience.

NVIDIA continues to lead this transformation, which power high-performance in-vehicle AI computing, and intelligent automation capabilities. As more automakers move toward centralized AI-driven architectures, SDVs are becoming a key differentiator for next-generation vehicles.

Beyond enabling continuous feature upgrades via over-the-air (OTA) updates, SDVs are reshaping the in-car experience. AI-powered infotainment, voice assistants, adaptive UIs, and immersive digital cockpits were some of the key innovations showcased at CES 2025. Additionally, the shift toward subscription-based vehicle services is gaining momentum, allowing automakers to introduce on-demand AI features, personalized settings, and real-time driver assistance.
