We are excited to announce that Fabian Klebert, Technical Coordinator at NDS Association, will be speaking at the Automotive Open Source Summit 2025, taking place on May 13, 2025, at the prestigious Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Starnberg, Germany.
Organized and hosted by The Eclipse Foundation, a global leader in fostering open-source innovation, this premier event brings together thought leaders, developers, and executives from across the automotive industry. With a track record spanning over two decades, The Eclipse Foundation is home to more than 410 open source projects and initiatives like Adoptium, Software Defined Vehicle, and Jakarta EE, supported by a global community of over 360 members.
At this year’s summit, Fabian Klebert will deliver a presentation titled “Functional Safety and Open Source in NDS.“ In his talk, Fabian will explore how open-source software (OSS), traditionally seen as a driver of cost efficiency and innovation, is also becoming a viable solution for safety-critical automotive applications.
Since 2018, NDS has successfully utilized zserio, a high-performance open-source serialization tool, to meet the demanding needs of embedded systems and performance-driven applications. Fabian will detail how, in collaboration with automotive manufacturers, NDS has adapted and validated zserio for use in safety-critical environments, addressing common challenges around quality assurance and compliance with rigorous safety standards.
Fabian’s session will not only highlight the substantial benefits of OSS in automotive safety contexts but will also provide strategic recommendations for developing and deploying OSS in environments where functional safety is paramount.
