The NDS Association is proud to present its new chairman of the Steering Committee (SC): The members voted for Dr. Martin Pfeifle (NNG). Jens Vogelsang (Bosch) has been confirmed in his position as vice chairman of the NDS SC. Boris Gumhold (HERE) continues to hold the position of chairman of the Technical Committee (TC), Michael Westphal (Harman) is his deputy as vice chairman TC.
Martin Pfeifle succeeds Martin Schleicher (Executive Vice President Electrobit), who was previously chairman of the NDS Association.
Some background information on the new NDS chairman: Martin has been CTO at the well-known international navigation software expert NNG for almost 4 years. Navigation and database systems are the common thread running through Martin’s career. He started as a software developer and consultant for numerous renowned companies in the 1990s. Further career stations included Group Leader of Navigation Database at Continental, Senior Manager NDS at HERE and Director ADAS PERCEPTION at Visteon. Martin also lectured in Database Systems and Data Mining at Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg and taught at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich.
Dr. Pfeifle has earned an excellent reputation in the navigation industry in recent years. He has been involved with NDS since 2005. Martin has been a key technical contributor to the NDS standard in the early days of the organization by introducing the SQLite library into the NDS standard, for example.
Martin has in-depth industry knowledge coupled with deep analytical and team leadership skills. In recent years, he has used his extensive knowledge and vision to drive forward numerous technical developments. “I’m looking forward to proactively implementing the goals of the Navigation Data Standard in the future – hand in hand with a committed, high-performing and future-oriented team, helping to shape the sustainable, powerful mobility of the future,” Martin comments.
